BARF Hungary: Safe pet food production that anyone can trust

The BARF Hungary plant is the first raw pet food production facility in Hungary to operate under a NÉBIH license and HACCP certification. Our plant is certified as a feed production facility.

From the very beginning in 2015, it was clear to the owners of BARF Hungary that they were committed to creating a licensed, officially recognized, safe, and truly high-quality manufacturing plant and product line.

This commitment has enabled us to establish Hungary’s first raw pet food production plant that complies with HACCP regulations as well as strict Hungarian and European pet food production rules.
In addition, our plant produces a complete raw menu that contains ingredients that are basically intended for human consumption!

We are truly proud of this to this day, as the cleanliness of the plant, the controlled production process, and the reliable sources of raw materials (suppliers are usually suppliers to human restaurants and food production units) guarantee that the quality truly reaches a level suitable for human consumption. and thanks to the validated manufacturing process and barcode tracking, all the raw materials in a finished product can be traced back to all suppliers, so we can tell you who supplied each ingredient, when, and in what form, from the vegetables to the last piece of meat.

What is HACCP and why is it so important in an animal feed manufacturing plant?

The HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) system ensures the operation of the manufacturing facility and regulates, for example, the direction of movement of raw materials within the plant, the inspection system, the precise process of material processing, and the incredible amount of inspections and record keeping required to ensure safe product manufacturing.
The aim of the system is to minimize the possibility of product contamination by adhering to the process and to ensure consistently high quality.
HACCP regulations are primarily used in human facilities (such as restaurants and food production plants), but our pet food production plant also fully complies with this system of requirements!

Our plant and manufacturing process are supervised and approved by NÉBIH, and the plant and products have been licensed by the Hungarian authorities after independent laboratory testing.

Thanks to the HACCP system, documents and checklists continuously verify that what we communicate is actually happening in the plant during the manufacturing of our products.

Continuous monitoring of raw materials is the key to quality.

Before, during, and after production, our raw materials and products undergo continuous monitoring.
At every stage of procurement and production, our colleagues check the quality, smell, origin, weight and consistency of the raw materials – because a high-quality finished product can only be made from high-quality raw materials.
During and after production, the texture, appearance, and color of the finished product are continuously checked, and after packaging, the integrity and temperature of the packaging are checked, and the products are even inspected by a metal detector.
After production, the temperature of the storage freezers and chambers must be recorded so that the temperature at which the finished products were stored can be traced at any time.

Compliance with very strict Hungarian and European regulations is very important not only for the health of pets, but also for the health of their owners.
After all, no one wants to catch an infection or disease from contact with meat or products of uncertain origin from an uncontrolled, unlicensed facility.

Your safety and that of your pet is our top priority – and we guarantee it!
